Force of Nature

It was a smile and an act of kindness.
That touched me just in time.
It was how she listened closely.
To understand and ease my mind.
But it was not ‘til she had to leave me.
I knew I’d be okay. Somehow, she gifted.
Me some of her spirit
I whispered, “Thank you, thank you.”
As she walked away.

She moved thru my life,
A comet trailing light.
An angel, looking into my mind and soul,
Making my darkness bright.
She is a Force of Nature,
Hopeful and determined,
Filled with a passion to give.

She is a Force of Nature
Brave and unstoppable,
Just beginning to live.

Busted Big Time

I woke up this morning,
blues all 'round my head.
Said to myself, oh Brother,
you should have stayed at home in bed.

'Cause late last night, this Red-Head went and made a fool out of me. And by three o'clock this morning, the blues were my only company.

I tried to play the Dealer.
Now John Law, he knows my name.

That Which You Do

That which you do unto others

The love that you give to your brothers and sisters

Think of your life as a journey

Your spirit needs food as it travels on its way
And may borrow as much as it lends.

All of your past is your future
All you’ve forgotten you must relearn

Whose purpose and being are one
To bring beauty and love to this world where we all live
And be part of the whole from where you’ve come

There's a plane out in the morning
gonna pack my bag right now
there's a lot, I can leave behind.
'll tell that ticket agent, 
I don't need a first class seat
traveling's just another state of mind.

And I told this city, years ago,
some day I'd be on top.
Well here I am, in my high rise home.
Surrounded by three million people
I don't even know.
No wonder I've been feeling so alone.

How do I know who I am..
when the mask I put on every morning
covered up the man I used to be.
Well. now I see.
And I'm flying across the country,
past the mountains and the desert.
When I reach that ocean,
I'll be free.

I'll put all my pin stripped suits 
into that empty Goodwill box.
I'll just keep
my boots and jeans.
Protected by my peace of mind
gonna listen to my heart.
No more chasing other people's dreams.

How do I know who I am

Poet in Love

I'm a poet in love, at a loss for words..
words don't begin to describe you.
I need a new language, 
a new way to hear.. 
my rhymes and alliterations, won't do,
So I turn off the sound, and I turn off the light.  I tune out the world outside.
The the silence, I hear. 
In the darkness,  I see beautiful words,
spread like rose petals at your feet.

You are the flowers in all the meadows
all the blue in all the skies
You are the waves on the seven oceans
the song in every bird that flies.
You are the gentle breeze
that whispers on my face
the music that lives in my heart.
You are the sun and the moon, 
and all the stars to me.  
When I try to describe you,  
that's where I start.

I'm a poet in love, 
who's run out of words,
I silence my mind, my heart's in control
To speak the unspoken, 
to hear the unsaid,
to let the sound of love unfold.
From this quiet place, I leave my body.
My spirit wings it's way thru the universe.
I search the stars in all the galaxies..
I bring back a handful of stardust
to sprinkle in your hair.

You are the colors in the rainbow.
You are the day that follows night.
You are the love 
that makes the world go 'round.
A butterfly I must not hold too tight...
